money order should be made out to "Korean Consulate". Make one money order for
all charges and fees.
『 Please be advised that Consulate General of Korea is
not responsible for missing/lost/stolen passports once it has left the
Consulate's premises.
グ. Guidelines for Passport Application
For Permanent Residents:
1. Documents Required:
- Application for Passport : 1 original
The Application may be
downloaded.(HWP, MS-WORD, ACROBAT)
- Two(2) Color Photos
- The photos on white background should be less than
6 months old. The size of the face is approximately 1¼" and should be the front
view. The hats, head-gears, or sunglasses are not allowed.
- Affix one photo
on the Application for Passport and the remainder should be sent along with the
application.
- A copy of the front and back of the Permanent Resident Card(if mailed, have
the copy notarized).
- The current passport(original) and a copy of the current passport(the pages
with personal information)
- Processing Fees: $30.-(in cash or money order, no personal checks)
- If
mailed, include $15.- for return postage(depending on the number of passports
mailed together, the postage may vary).
- You may make one money order for
all the fees.
2 Following individuals have to Submit Additional Documents
(1) Male Applicants between 18 and 35 years old:
- Proof of the completion or exemption from military services(a copy of the
page of the passport on which the embarkation records is stamped or the
Certificate of Completion)
- Applicants who have not completed military services have to apply for an
extension of military service when submitting the Passport Application.
(2) For the separation of accompanied children from the passport or if
this application is the first application after reaching the age of 14:
- submit a copy of family register
(3) Addition/Deletion of Husband's Surname:
- submit copies of marriage certificate or divorce document
3. Processing Time: by the category
- Applying in Person: approximately 7 days upon receipt of the
application
- If the application is submitted together with Military
Exemption, it may take up to two months.
- First time applicant after becoming a permanent resident: 2 weeks -
1month
- in this case, the Korean Resident Registration will automatically be
nullified)
- First time applicant after reaching the age of 14: about 1month
- Applying by Mail: an extra delivery time is needed in addition to the above
mentioned processing time.
For Non-Resident Aliens(Students, Company Reps,
Short-Term Employees, and Others)
1. Documents Required:
- Application for Passport : 1 original
The Application may be

- Student: Certificate of
Attendance(original) and I-20(copy)
- Employee: Certificate of
Employment
- Others: INS's Authorization for stay
- Undocumented aliens:
grounds for the over stay & the pledge to try to expeditiously obtain the
legal status.
- The current passport(original) and a copy of the current passport(the pages
with personal information and visa section)
- Processing Fees: $50.-(in cash or money order, no personal checks)
- If
mailed, include $15.- for return postage(depending on the number of passports
mailed together, the postage may vary).
- You may make one money order for
all the fees.
2. Following Individuals have to Submit Additional Documents
(1) Male Applicant between 18 and 35 years old

Additional Documents for Lost/ Stolen/ Damaged
Passports
- Grounds for applying for the passport(MS-WORD,
ACROBAT)
- Photo I.D.(Notarize it when copies are submitted)
- Wire fee : $10.-(in addition to the application fee)
- in cash or money
order, no personal checks
- Processing time : about 10days
- Application should be submitted at the Consulate in person.
- One may
submit the application by mail if the applicant resides in a long distance from
the Consulate. In this case the president of the area Korean Association can
verify the identity of the applicant.
- If the term of validity of the lost/stolen/damaged passport is more than one
year, the new passport will only carry the remaining validity of the old
passport. If the applicant prefers, a regular 5 years of validity can be given
after referencing with the Korean Authorities.
